SYSTEM CHANGES

The way CHIE user accounts expire has changed

If you’re a user that accesses CHIE through your Electronic Patient Record system, e.g. RiO, SystmOne, CHARTS, Minestrone etc, then your account will now expire, if you have not used it, at 180 days (previously 90 days). This should mean less time wasted chasing the CHIE team to unlock your account.

Users that access CHIE via an Internet Browser will have accounts that expire at 15 days (previously 90 days). We will monitor the success of these changes, with a formal review after 3 months in collaboration with the CHIE Working Group attendees.

USAGE AND BENEFITS

SYSTEM USAGE IN 2023

92 % of CHE users who responded to this year's survey said that CHIE supports the provision and delivery of quality care. It should, therefore, be no surprise that CHIE usage continues to rise!

The last 12 months has seen a 30% increase in CHIE usage with records viewed per month, climbing from 201,095 in December 2022 to 262,470 in November 2023.

Thank you all for your support of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight's shared health and care record.

THE VIEW FROM HERE - Dr Emma Davis, GP and CHIE Clinical Lead

Christmas is a bustling time of year. Diaries fills up and normal activities start winding down ready for the holiday season. I am a keen advocate of social prescribing. Often, the need to connect with people or to do something productive outweighs the need for medications and investigations.

Sometimes, what is key is understanding the whole person and their environment.

As I get busier, I recognise my mother will get quieter. Her singing, cinema, walking and social lunch groups will all pause for a few weeks, a long time for someone with dementia. As a family we will keep her busy but many people don’t have this type of support network. Therefore, there is a need to understand and plan for, the gaps in activity provision. I’m loving the way data is helping to facilitate this. New social prescribing systems are leading the way and holistic care really is coming!

CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT

Sharing patient information - new resources now available

New public information, designed to explain why and how health and care services share information from patient records, is now available from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board.

This includes a new set of ‘sharing your information’ web pages on the ICB website, which feature a series of animations explaining the different uses of patient information and data by health and care services and how this is kept confidential, safe and secure, as well as some detailed FAQs.

Please feel free to signpost patients to these new resources if they have general questions about data uses and sharing. For more specific question on CHIE, please continue to refer to the CHIE website.

The ICB has also produced a range of communications resources – including text for websites, newsletter articles and social media posts - which primary care colleagues and system partner organisation are invited to use in their own communications. These resources are available here.

We hope you find these new resources useful.

For more information, please contact Tim Smith: tim.smith23@nhs.net or 07814 392976.
